Join our support for National Zero Waste Week?

National Zero Waste Week, beginning on 3 September, asks everyone to pledge to do ‘one more thing’ to reduce landfill – if every household in England took part it would generate three-quarters of a million tonnes of recycled material.

MRW is proudly supporting this grassroots initiative, and we have written to key opinion formers to ask them to make a pledge. Waste minister Lord Taylor and shadow minister Gavin Shuker head a growing list of politicians, industry figures and celebrities who have agreed to take part.

We’re also urging you to add your own pledges, individually or on behalf of your organisation. My own pledge is to use reusable nappies when my baby arrives in November, saving a tonne of waste and meaning that I won’t be adding to the 7,500 tonnes of disposable nappy waste – or 31 million nappies – thrown away each year where I live in Buckinghamshire.

Initiatives like National Zero Waste Week are an important opportunity to educate the public and a chance for the industry to engage with communities to help improve the quality and quantity of recycled materials collected. What could you or your organisation do? Email your pledge to: mrw@emap.com
