Interactive: Map of fires at recycling centres

  • Comment

There has been on average more than one fire a week at recycling centres, MRW has found.

Exclusive MRW strap

There were 59 fires at recycling centres in Great Britain in 2012, according to research done by MRW. This works out as just over one a week on average.

MRW trawled through local newspaper stories featuring fires at recycling centres to find out about their frequency.

You can explore our interactive map, below, to find out about fires at recycling centres near you. You can click through the fire icon to find the original local news story. If we have missed any, please let us know at MRW@emap.com or on Twitter at @MRWmagazine

When contacted by MRW, the Environment Agency and the Health and Safety Executive were unable to comment on our research.
