Bucks EfW plant decision delayed

A decision on an application for an energy-from-waste facility in north Buckinghamshire has been delayed unti the autumn.

The Waste Recycling Group proposed to build an EfW plant at Greatmoor Farm, Calvert.

But Buckinghamshire County Council’s Development Control Committee this week resolved to defer a decision on the application.

The committee unanimously agreed  to wait until a report has been received from the Planning Inspector on the Buckinghamshire Minerals and Waste Core Strategy, expected in the autumn.

Committee members heard submissions from objectors, supporters, parish councils covering and surrounding Calvert, local County Councillor Michael Edmonds and WRG director John Plant.

It moved its meeting from County Hall to the conference room at Stoke Mandeville Olympic Lodge to provide room for almost 100 people, and waived the procedure that gives a presentation time of four minutes per person or organisation.

Chairman David Polhill said: “We allowed for all those interested and concerned to be represented for a longer time than usual because of the magnitude of the case.”
