What is your product?
In straightforward terms, BioCat+ is a natural compound which brings a range of powerful enhancements to the biogas production process, including increased output, improved gas quality, reduced odours and less downtime for maintenance.
How does it work?
It improves the efficiency of the AD process by boosting the metabolism of the micro-organisms in the digester.
Where would it ideally be used?
It has been proven effective in both thermophilic and mesophilic digesters, the latter being most common in the UK. Any size of plant is a candidate to achieve the benefits, including at farm-scale. It is also PAS 110 compliant.
How is it different?
There is nothing else like BioCat+ on the market.
What benefits does it offer?
Trials across Europe have shown that operators who introduce BioCat+ will achieve more and better gas from the same feedstock – an average of 25% extra gas per tonne of feedstock. Alternatively, historic output levels were maintained with 20% less feedstock when BioCat+ was introduced. A related significant reduction in levels of corrosive hydrogen sulphide also cuts maintenance downtime and unpleasant odours.
Where has it been used?
Used in plants in the UK, Holland, Switzerland, Germany, Austria, Slovenia, Czech Republic and Croatia. Operators include Biogas Nord, Kompogas, HHNK Zandamm, Franico and MT-Energie Biogas Technology.
Pricing is commercially sensitive, but a guarantee is provided to customers that if they do not see beneficial results in three to four months, and therefore an uplift in profit or equivalent savings, they will pay nothing.
Average trial results show an average increase in biogas production of 25% per tonne of feedstock, with boosted methane content, so better gas, in addition to the reduction in odours and corrosive elements. Turned around this could mean maintaining output with up to 20% less feedstock, in addition to the other benefits.
What about maintenance?
Use of BioCat+ is relatively straightforward, involving simple, inexpensive technology maintained by Citadel Environmental Solutions. For AD plants it can reduce maintenance downtime through the reduction in levels of corrosive hydrogen sulphide.
What is its life span?
Dosing of feedstock is carried out on an ongoing basis.
Any future applications?
BioCat+ has shown great potential in a number of bio-remediation scenarios, waste water treatment and agriculture.
