Q What is your product/technology?
Compact and Bale 20m3 capacity Durapac CB28W hbl sealed portable compactor with integral front bin lifter.
Q How does it work?
Compacting waste reduces its volume at a typical ratio of 5:1 making it more viable to transport. The waste is fully enclosed inside a steel container, which can’t be accessed by vermin or birds and is not susceptible to wind scatter problems.
Q Where would it ideally be used?
Using a compactor improves site appearance - particularly important for modern factory estates, shopping centres and hospitals.
Q How is it different?
The integral compactor means no spillage as the rear door seals retain the liquid and the Durapac machines are fully leak proof.
The new 20m3 capacity Durapac CB28W hbl portable compactor, unlike standard portable compactors, uses a scoop action compaction ram meaning the self-cleaning cylinders and all associated parts are housed in the top of the machine away from any waste. In standard compactors these are housed at the bottom of the machine where they can be damaged by build-up of waste.
As the compaction ram within the Durapac CB28W hbl has no housing, there is no inspection hatch and so no cleaning, no breakdowns, no costs, no smell - common problems with standard portable compactors.
Q What benefits does it offer?
Portable compactor require less space, can be relocated easily and have no special site requirements. The Durapac CB28W hbl also improves site safety and hygiene and reduces the risk of fire and accident. Putting a compactor close to the source of waste reduces journeys to/from the skip. The machine also frees up valuable floor space and reduces site traffic – one journey instead of five.
Q Any savings?
As well as reducing waste disposal, repair and cleaning costs its 17 second fast cycle should bring operational savings. It has a 37 tonne compaction force and so should consistently compact maximum weight payloads, so saving money load after load. Compact and Bale says the Durapac CB28W will save users “many thousands of pounds” in its lifetime.
Q Where has it been used?
Machines have recently been installed at Southside Shopping Centre in Wandsworth and Oracle Shopping Centre in Reading.
The new Durapac CB28W retails at £23,995 + vat, ex works. Rental and lease purchase options are available.
Q What about maintenance?
We recommend users have routine services two, three or four times each year, depending on usage.
Q What is its life span?
This depend on many factors but in the most extreme of environments, with regular maintenance, we expect a machine to last 10 years plus. In kind environments, many machines last 20 years plus.
