Contract: Scotland Excel: treatment of recyclable and residual waste.

Description: A framework agreement to treat recyclable and residual waste including commingled dry recyclables, papers, cardboard, newspapers and magazines, glass, cans, plastics, mixed scrap metal, wood and textiles. Divided into 23 lots.

Value: £75m-£100m

Deadline: 26.3.2014



Contract: South Ribble Borough Council: waste collection partnering.

Description: A 14-year contract for an alternate weekly kerbside collection comprising of residual waste, dry recycling and mixed garden and food waste to almost 48,000 properties within the council. Includes a weekly trade waste collection, bulky waste collection and medical waste. There are approximately 107,000 residents in the region.

Value: £30.8m

Contract: Tube Lines: refuse recycling services.

Description: A five-year framework for the provision of scrap metal management services. Includes suitable own site storage, transportation and recycling systems and facilities. Collection and recycling of approximately 1,000 tonnes per year of metal comprising ferrous and non-ferrous, including copper and aluminium.

Value: Up to £5.5m

Contract: North Lincolnshire Borough Council: slag, dross, ferrous waste and scrap.

Description: Concession contract for the collection, processing and recycling/disposal of scrap metal from the council’s waste recycling sites.

Deadline: 26.3.2014



Contract: The City of Bradford Metropolitan District Council: recycling and treatment of green waste, wood waste, and sweepings.

Description: A prior information notice concerning the recycling and treatment of materials: Lot 1: green waste arising from the councils kerbside and household waste sites. Lot 2: wood waste arising from the councils kerbside and household waste sites. Lot 3: sweepings waste arising from the council’s pavement cleaning service. It is anticipated that the arrangements will come into place in July 2014 and will be for an initial three-year period. The cost of the recyclable materials to the authority over the life of the contract is estimated at £1m.




Contract: Environment Agency: waste management of unknown substances including hazardous waste.

Description: A four-year national framework contract to provide a response to pollution incidents, particularly where spillage/fly-tipping has occurred. Includes site and incident specific risk assessments; isolation of unknown waste materials (i.e. liquid or solid materials) and oil, to contain and make secure; handling and transportation in accordance with all current legislation; safe and segregated storage both on and off site; sampling and analysis; appropriately permitted disposal/treatment; provision of chain of custody, recording systems and certifications; project management of planned clearance of illegal waste sites.
