EA orders Yorkshire firm to clear dump

A South Yorkshire recycling firm in administration has been ordered to clear a giant pile of rubbish by the end of the month.

The Environment Agency (EA) has served a suspension notice on Sheffield Recycling Services following reports of excessive waste at its Manor Works site.

Local paper The Star reported that the waste pile was estimated to be more than 40ft high.

An EA spokesperson said: “Our officers have visited the site and  served a suspension notice, with an order to clear the waste by the end of the month.

“We are monitoring progress of the clearance and will consider other enforcement options if the operator does not remove the waste.”

The company, whose activities range from household skip hire to industrial waste removal, confirmed to MRW that administrators were appointed this month to run the business.

Beesley & Company, the reported administrators, has been contacted for a response.
