Firefighters have been praised by the operator of a scrap yard in Norfolk after they tackled a blaze for 12 hours.
According to the Eastern Daily Press, 76 firefighters were at the two-acre site at Seething which held up to 1,000 end-of-life vehicles.
Motorists had been warned to keep windows closed as they drove through the rural area because of smoke and fumes.
Norfolk Fire and Rescue sent 10 appliances from Carrow, Loddon, Wymondham, Great Yarmouth, Earlham and Suffolk.
According to the newspaper, other crews were recalled to duty to maintain cover across the rest of the county as their colleagues fought the Seething blaze.
Site owner David Yarham was quoted as praising the fire crews for doing “a marvellous job”.
