Q: What is your technology?
Zehnder Clean Air Solutions (CAS): high-performance and energy-efficient air filtration units which remove and control high dust concentrations in industrial applications. They are designed to reduce concentrations by 60-80%.
Q: How does it work?
By removing dust particles from the air to create a clean and healthy environment.
Q: Where should it be used?
Any industrial setting where nuisance dust is causing issues for employees, product contamination or wear and tear on machinery.
Q: How is it different?
It uses Flimmer filtration technology, which consists of thousands of electro-statically charged, fine polypropylene hairs that hold on to the dust. This unique filtering technique provides an extremely high level of dust and particulate removal while maintaining a clean air delivery rate.
Q: What are the benefits?
Zehnder units can reduce cleaning costs; assist in meeting health and safety and hygiene standards; and enhance the overall working environment for employees. Additional benefits include decreased machinery maintenance costs, reduced product contamination and the improved performance of heating, ventilation, air conditioning and dehumidification equipment.
Q: Where has it been used?
CAS units are in use across a range of industries including retail (Ikea), manufacturing (Dairy Crest) and recycling (Canon Confidential and Associate Waste Management).
Costs are calculated on a site-by-site basis because the number of units required depends on the dust concentration, number of air changes and site usage.
Q: Any savings?
The high levels of dust removal can help companies to achieve savings of up to 30% on their annual cleaning costs when using floor care appliances to clean their buildings. This increases to up to 70% when cleaning by hand alone. The cleaner environment also cuts product wastage through contamination, and lowers machinery maintenance and downtime costs, along with employee absence.
Q: What about maintenance?
Filters are generally changed once a year, depending on dust concentration. This can be carried out by the customer or by Zehnder. Both the filter change and an annual service are included in the service contract.
Q: What is its life span?
With regular servicing and filter changes, the units are designed to operate for many years.
Q: How is it future-proofed?
Zehnder units already help companies to meet World Health Organisation guidelines and are well equipped to meet more stringent requirements.
Q: Any future applications?
The units can also be used to reduce levels of humidity and odour. Future research and development will pursue these benefits and will lead us into new markets.
