High temperatures target oil and gas waste

Industrial pollution and odour control specialist Simdean Envirotec is the exclusive UK agent for a plasma-based chemical waste elimination system that it claims is a more cost-effective alternative to landfill and incineration.

The system disintegrates waste molecules while reducing emissions of greenhouse gases and lowering costs.

The process has been developed for the chemicals, oil, pharmaceuticals, gas and chemical plant industries, and is designed to integrate into a production line.

But its mobile option, which can be rented, may be beneficial for occasional usage by waste management operations where there is a specific project requiring the handling of chemical, gas or other such waste.

The patented plasma technology uses high temperature (2,000-4,500˚C) to destroy instantly a wide range of organic and inorganic wastes, leaving only the constituent atoms.

These are transformed into a mix of non-hazardous gas for emission into the atmosphere and usable by-products. Emissions are within international standards and regulations.

The process is described as being equally effective in treating liquids, slurry or contaminated gases.
