Waste management company 4Recycling has won a contract to recycle digestate from Biffa Waste Services’ anaerobic digestion facility in Staffordshire.
The company, which is part of the 4R Group, will provide a complete technical, transport and recycling service for 50,000 tonnes a year of digestate over three years, supplied from Biffa’s 120,000 tonne facility.
Under the £450,000 contract, 4Recycling use the digestate, which is of PAS 110 standard, on farmland in and around Staffordshire.
4R Group managing director Mike Holt said: “4R Group technicians are continually working with clients to develop value-added fertiliser replacements that are then marketed through the 4R Products business.
“This is an essential activity given the Government’s focus on delivering a zero-waste economy. Developing markets for these products will be a key test for the Coalition.”
