£5,000 fine

Macclesfield Magistrates Court has fined a man £5,000 for repeated waste offences.

Simon Hurst of Middlewich, Cheshire, pleaded guilty to three offences committed over 14 months at a builders yard in Knutsford.

Hurst allowed building materials, brick rubble and soil waste to be stored on the land without a waste management licence more than once.

This was despite repeated warnings from Environment Agency officers that this was in breach of the law.
