Asda staff have been ordered to take Tesco leaflets out of local newspapers and throw them in waste bins.
In the Chesser Asda store in Edinburgh, staff were told to throw away thousands of leaflets and were not allowed to put them in the recycling bin, according to reports in the Glasgow Sunday Mail. Workers claimed that bosses were scared of the competition from Tesco.
An Asda spokesman told MRW: To remove Tesco leaflets from newspapers is not a store policy and is not something that we would agree with. If it happened it must have been a one off and we will ensure that it does not happen again.
