ASOS to launch online recycling service for clothes

Online fashion retailer ASOS is preparing to launch an online marketplace platform which will allow customers to recycle their wardrobes.

The retailer announced today that it is in the advanced stages of preparing the marketplace which it hopes to launch later this year, giving customers the chance to buy vintage clothes and shop in a more environmentally friendly way.

Prices will be fixed rather than determined by an auction process and customers will be given advice from ASOS on how to display items to maximise selling potential.

The platform will also be open to independent retailers and designers wishing to market excess stock.

ASOS chief executive Nick Robertson said: “This is an exciting extension to ASOS’s existing customer offer which makes perfect sense in today’s market.”
