Avery Weigh-Tronix sets world record at RWM

A weighbridge manufacturer has set a Guinness world record for the most people weighed on a single scale during the final day of RWM in Birmingham.

On 16 September, Avery Weigh-Tronix successfully set the record for “the greatest number of people being weighed on a single scale at a single venue” for the first time when 130 people simultaneously used one of its Bridgemont weighbridges, which measured 7.5m x 3.35m. The Bridgemont uses an E1205 indicator for control and an XR remote display showed the total weight.

To meet the guidelines for the record, Avery staff counted people on and off the weighbridge, as well as weighing each participant individually before they stepped on. The record breakers shared a combined weight of 10,600kg.

Avery marketing executive Michelle Williams told MRW: “It feels fantastic. It seems like it was a long time coming – we had to get permission from the NEC and the buzz generated for the stand has been excellent.

“As a proud Midlands company with such a long heritage in the area, we are delighted to have set another weighing first and to have done it at a  Midlands venue with so many people from the region.”
