Aylesbury Vale council leader calls in Bucks incinerator decision

The decision by Buckinghamshire county council to appoint WRG as preferred bidder for a controversial Energy from Waste (EfW) facility has been called in by the leader of Aylesbury Vale District Council (AVDC).

AVDC leader John Cartwright’s calling in of the appointment of the preferred bidder status meant that the decision was considered on the AVDC’s scrutiny and overview committee, which unanimously decided to call-in the decision. A special further meeting on 22 December will now follow.

In addition to the procurement contract, WRG has also made separate planning applications for the proposed 300,000 tonne capacity incinerator, which would be built on Lower Greatmoor Farm, Edgcott.

Local opposition group Stop Aylesbury Vale Incineration (SAVI) said: “We in SAVI are supported by our constituency MP John Bercow, will continue to do all we can to stop this monstrosity from being built. If we lose this fight, it will be disastrous for the surrounding community.”
