Barnet's latest scheme

Barnets latest scheme

The London Borough of Barnet has launched an advertising campaign to help it achieve the ambitious 30% recycling target it has set itself.

Not content with the challenge of going from around 15% household-waste recycling earlier this year to 27% in 2005/6, the authority decided to aim three percentage points higher.

Barnet controversially introduced the threat of £1,000 fines for not using its recycling scheme in April, and collected almost 20% more material for recycling that month than in April 2003.

And this month the council launched an information campaign in conjunction with ECT Recycling, starting with the advert shown.
