Biffa Recycling awarded Basildon Council processing contract

A four year contract to process household recyclables collected by Basildon borough council has been awarded to Biffa Recyclables.

The four year contract will see Biffa Group’s recyclables processing division collect 14,000 tonnes a year of bulked dry recyclables from the council’s Billericay recycling centre. The material, which is collected through a single-stream commingled system, will then be transported to its Edmonton MRF while glass is sent directly to a reprocessor.

Biffa Recycling contract manager Steve Oulds said: “We’re delighted to be working in partnership with Basildon to provide quality, efficient processing of its recyclables. This new contract has enabled Basildon Council to enhance its recycling service for residents as our plant can handle a wider range of materials such as Tetra Paks, foils, and so on.”
