Biffaward gives £10m to UK projects

Landfill tax funder Biffaward has announced in its annual report for 2007/08 that it has awarded more than £10 million to environmental and community projects.

Biffaward is a multi-million pound environment fund, managed by the Royal Society of Wildlife Trusts, which uses landfill tax credits donated by Biffa Waste Services.

It was established in 1997 and has donated more than £100m to almost 2,000 projects. It has helped to improve community buildings and community facilities such as village halls and play areas.

Biffaward chairman Tim Lowth said: This year Biffaward has again distributed more than £10m in funding to a diverse range of worthwhile projects throughout the UK. The impact of Biffaward funding can be seen and felt in all communities it supports.
