Brazil waste case due to start

Four men and two companies are due to appear in court later today in relation to offences concerning the alleged illegal export of prohibited waste to Brazil.

The case at City of London Magistrates Court follows a two-year investigation by the Environment Agency’s National Enforcement Service.

It follows an incident in 2009 when the Environment Agency repatriated 89 containers from Brazil after being told by the Brazilian Institute of Environment and Renewable Natural Resources that they contained waste.
