BRE and WRAP join forces over waste management reporting tools

Building firms using BRE’s SMARTWaste tool can now transfer their construction waste data directly to the Waste & Resources Action Programme’s (WRAP) Waste to Landfill Reporting Portal.

This partnership between WRAP and BRE should make it easier for construction companies, who have signed up to WRAP’s Construction Commitments: Halving Waste to Landfill voluntary agreement, to record and benchmark their progress.

Users of SMARTWaste, the BRE web-based tool used to prepare and implement Site Waste Management Plans, can now transfer their data directly to the WRAP portal meaning they can monitor their individual progress against targets, run reports and benchmark themselves against competitors.

BRE’s SMARTWaste manager Katherine Adams said: “We are pleased to be able to offer our users the opportunity to transfer data automatically to WRAP’s Waste to Landfill Reporting Portal. By making waste reporting easier for our users, they can clearly demonstrate their own achievements and commitment to reducing waste to landfill.”

The WRAP Waste to Landfill Reporting Portal enables users to enter and review waste data. WRAP programme manager for designers and contractors Jim Wiltshire said: “We are delighted to be working with BRE on this initiative. This direct feed into the Reporting Portal will make it very easy for those signed up to the Halving Waste to Landfill Commitment to enter their data directly into the portal – on of the key signatory actions.”
