Caddy contract award

A council in Surrey has awarded a contract to supply 70,000 food waste containers to the environmental products manufacturer Straight plc.

Tandridge District Council made the announcement ahead of the introduction of food waste collections to more than 35,000 properties from October 2012.

Each household will receive a Straight 5 litre kitchen caddy and a 23 litre kerbside caddy.

Chairman of Tandridge District Council’s community services committee, Tony Elias, said he hoped the introduction of food waste collections would “make a significant impact” on the council’s recycling rate.

Jonathan Straight, chief executive of Straight plc said: “We are extremely pleased to be working with Tandridge District Council to assist with the implementation of their new food waste collection.  Using our Kitchen Caddy and Kerbside Caddy provides a simple, effective and proven food waste collection system, which works very well.”
