Call for Government to get tough on green labelling

The Government should introduce regulations to ensure that materials that composts to EU standards can be labelled as compostable, according to Friends of the Earth.Senior waste campaigner Michael Warhurst said the Government was weak on green labelling and this weakness has contributed to consumer confusion.Concern has been raised about the use of biopolymers such as polylactic acid (PLA) which is used by some retailers in items such as food trays, pots and bottles.
