Cat arrested over binmen assault

Red Dwarf star Daniel John-Jules, also known as Cat in the cult BBC series, was arrested on suspicion of assault over claims that he lashed out at Veolia Environmental Services binmen.

The actor, who is currently starring on childrens TV channel CBeebies and lives in the London Borough of Brent, was arrested on charges of assaulting the binmen after an apparent row about his green waste collection. According to a Veolia spokesman, John-Jules allegedly got furious after the recycling crew told him that his green waste was contaminated and refused to collect it. Rumours circulated that John-Jules went into his household to obtain a weapon but no weapon was used in the attack.

The Veolia spokesman added: Two members of a green organics recycling bin collection crew were assaulted in Whitmore Gardens, Kensal Rise, 15 February, by a member of the public.
Both men were taken to a nearby hospital as a precaution for shock but made a quick and full recovery.

The council and Veoila take violence against staff members very seriously. We will be cooperating fully with the police in order to ensure the appropriate action is taken, continued the Veolia spokesman. The recycling service to the house concerned has been cancelled.
