CIWM to say goodbye to Torbay?

Concerned exhibitors and falling visitor numbers have caused the Chartered Institution of Wastes Management to announce it is considering moving its show from the seaside resort of Paignton in Devon.

In a letter to delegates passed out at the exhibition, organisers said they were looking at alternative venues. Rumours are circulating that Chester is under consideration as the next venue.

In the letter, CIWM said: We are looking at alternative venues that can match or beat the full range of facilities and unique atmosphere of Torbay.

The potential move will not affect the 2008 show, which is already in advanced stages of planning.
A review of the show has been underway since 2006 and as a result some new initiatives were introduced this year. This included an increase in free seminars and a transport hub.
RWM will remain at its NEC location on 11th to 13th September 2007.
