CLG committee to grill Pickles again

A panel of MPs is to field questions suggested via Twitter to communities secretary Eric Pickles, in a repeat of an #AskPickles session first held in January.

The Communities and Local Government Committee (CLG) will cross examine Pickles on 16 December over his responsibilities as secretary of state.

As part of the session a selection of questions gleaned from Twitter will be included.

During the previous session the #AskPickles hashtag was tweeted or re-tweeted nearly 1,600 times.

Committee chair Clive Betts said: “Over the five years which Eric Pickles has spent as communities and local government Secretary, there is much to reflect on.

“Following a very successful session a year ago, we’d like to give those who are interested and involved in local government another chance to put a question to the secretary of state.

“We’re looking for short, punchy questions on local government to ask Eric Pickles.”

Questions for the new session can be submitted by Twitter before 11pm on 8 December, and #AskPickles should be included in the tweet.
