Work has started on building a new household waste and recycling centre in Lincolnshire which will have the capacity to sort in excess of 5,000 tonnes of waste per year.
The two acre greenfield site adjacent to Gallamore Lane Industrial Estate in Market Rasen will provide recycling services to more than 12,000 residents who live within a seven mile radius, saving some residents having to make a 40-mile round trip to the next nearest centre.
J Murphy & Sons has been appointed as the principal contractor for the construction of the site as part of a £1.64million 25-week contract.
Lincolnshire City Council project development officer Ian Walker said: The site is great news for local residents who have waited a long time for local facilities.
