Construction waste firm buys skip hire business

A Hampshire-based construction waste management company has acquired a skip hire company to expand into Berkshire.

R Collard will assimilate the business, assets and goodwill of Handy Skips into its existing skip hire operation, increasing its geographical scope to include Windsor, Ascot and Maidenhead.

Handy Skips has been operating from the Eastern Road industrial estate for the past 27 years.

The construction company will now manage 1,500 skips, ranging from four to 40 cubic yard capacity, following the acquisition.

Materials generated by the company’s demolition and skip hire divisions are processed at centres in Eversley, Aldershot, Bramshill and Farnham, where only hazardous items such as asbestos are sent to landfill.

Robert Collard, managing director of R Collard, said: “It is part of our long-term strategy to be the major regional skip hire service for the M3/M4 corridor. This addition to our business gives us the expanded trading base we were looking for.”
