Contract for City of London's waste management

Enterprise Managed Services has secured a deal to provide waste management and street cleaning in the City of London.

The firm will provide the services across three neighbourhood areas for the City of London Corporation.

Features of the service will include specialist equipment for tackling gum removal; vacuum cleaners; compact scrubber-driers; and mobile high pressure jetting equipment.

‘High Data’ communication systems – in-cab and hand-held computers fitted with location and time recording systems – will also be used. In winter, vehicle monitoring systems will track and record the rate of grit and salt dispersal.

A core part of the firm’s waste management strategy will be increasing the recycling rate for commercial and domestic waste customers, supported by public awareness campaigns including a quarterly recycling road show and a mobile civic amenity site.

Chairman of the City of London Corporation’s Port Health and Environmental Services Committee John Tomlinson said: “This is a great demonstration of the City of London Corporation’s continued commitment to getting best value for our businesses and residents.

“It also shows Enterprise’s flexibility and creativity in coming up with innovative and cost effective solutions. I greatly look forward to the contract’s implementation.”
