Contract: Dacorum Borough Council: supply of polythene waste and refuse sacks and bags
Description: The council is introducing a new service delivery model and require the supply of sacks for the next five years. The contract is split into two lots. Lot 1 is for the supply of 58,000 caddy liners and Lot 2 is for the supply of sacks.
From November 2014 the council intends to separate food waste and collect this in a separate bin. To assist tenants with this, the council will supply a kitchen caddy, along with a roll of 52 liners.
Value: Lot 1: £50,000-£100,000. Lot 2: £250,000-£300,000
Contract: Torfaen County Borough Council: operation of household waste recycling centre and transfer station
Description: Household waste is to be received and arrangements made for separating and segregating the waste into recyclables and non-recyclables. The waste streams are to be properly stored in a secure manner whist awaiting haulage for reprocessing and/or treatment.
The Contract is initially for the duration of seven years with the option to extend on an annual basis subject to satisfactory performance and maintenance of reasonable costs up to an additional three years.
The authority is looking to contract with only one service provider who would be managing the sites and responsible for the sorting of the materials. The authority will allow sub-contracting under this arrangement by prior agreement only.
Contract: Staffordshire County Council: closed landfill monitoring
Description: Details of this contract have been updated. Long-term contract to monitor closed landfill sites, monitoring gas emissions, leachate and other contamination that may occur, and for the provider to advise on any remedial work necessary to resolve any issues that arise.
The contract will also allow for the provider to investigate, agree and implement suitable methods of utilising the sites in conjunction with the County Council.
It should be noted that the Specification for this Tender has been prepared with assistance from AMEC Environment and Infrastructure Ltd.
Contract: Gateshead Borough Council: provision and operation of a MRF
Description: This contract is being led by the Borough Council of Gateshead on behalf of the South Tyne and Wear Waste Management Partnership, made up of itself, South Tyneside Council and Sunderland City Council.
The service will also include the transfer of the segregated materials to suitable merchants or reprocessors.
