Cornwall gets a taste of the latest fashion

Recycled, reused and sustainable fabrics were given new lives as beautiful outfits and paraded down the Cornish catwalk. The fashion show organised by Recycle for Cornwall and TRAID raised over £1,000 for charity.

Attended by over 150 guests, it featured both local and national designers such as Kitten Caboodle, Wildlife and Sari Couture.

A selection of outfits designed and made by Sue Bamford of Heart’s Desire based around corsetry were particularly well received. She used textiles such as old curtains, bedspreads, wedding dresses and evening gowns.

London-based Junky Styling also provided imaginative dresses - created out of recycled men’s shirts.

The show aimed to demonstrate how we can all live modern lives while reducing our impact on the environment. Recycle for Cornwall spokesperson Becky Vickers said: “Everyone had a fantastic night, and it was a wonderful opportunity to demonstrate the huge local talent and enthusiasm in Cornwall for sustainable fashion.”
