CPI appoints new recovered paper sector manager

The Confederation of Paper Industries (CPI) has appointed waste management expert Stuart Pohler as its recovered paper sector manager, following Peter Seggie’s departure in March.

Pohler has held various positions in the waste management world during his career. He was recycling manager for Ealing Borough Council between 2005 and 2009, when the recycling rate more than doubled. Most recently, he was employed as principal consultant for waste management at environmental consultancy Entec. He has also been involved in writing guidance notes for WRAP.

CPI director general David Workman said: “Stuart strengthens our expertise in waste management and recycling issues as increasingly complex and important regulatory issues continue to develop. In particular, the transposition of the Waste Framework Directive into national laws and national waste strategies for each of the UK administrations will be of critical importance for our members. Stuart will have a key role to play in ensuring proposals are realistic and workable.”
