Creating new bags from old belts gains company 'product of the month' status

Innovative recycling accessories company Ting was voted as having Julys product of the month by environmental charity Urban Mines.

Set up by Royal College of Art graduate Inghua Ting in 2000, the companys philosophy is to use existing materials in new ways. It specialises in making bags and satchels from recycled leather belts, but also makes cushions, seats and hammocks from materials such as seat belts.

Ting said: We work hard to recycle, cut down on waste and follow good practice. Ting designs evolve from the potential of the materials themselves finding the best shapes and combinations to show off these reclaimed items without hiding the intrinsic qualities of each fabric.

The London-based company hand crafts its products in Europe and sells them in department stores and boutiques in the UK and internationally.
