Dead baby found at Peterborough recycling centre

The body of a newborn baby was found among the rubbish at a materials recycling facility in Peterborough, Cambridgeshire today (August 27).

The bleak discovery was made by a member of staff at the site in Peterborough this morning.
A Cambridgeshire police spokeswoman said: The body of a baby has been discovered at a waste recycling centre in Fourth Drove in Peterborough this morning. Officers have preserved the scene and will now carry out investigations.

The spokeswoman said that they are treating the death as suspicious and that the body was found among the rubbish.  She added that the baby had yet to be identified and that it is not yet known whether the body was that of a boy or a girl.
