Defra's EfW guide due by end of month

The long-awaited Defra guidance on Energy from Waste (EfW) is confirmed to be due for release before the end of February.

A Defra spokesman has confirmed the imminent arrival of the much-anticipated guide on EfW for council but was not able to give an exact date.

The guide was originally due to be released by autumn 2011, according to the Government’s waste policy action plan but, as MRW reported, industry concerns were raised that the draft guidance was “unduly negative and weak in supporting EfW”.

MRW reported that the the guidance was expected to be published in July 2012, and then the publication date was pushed back to late summer.
