Devon gets green light

Planning permission has been granted by Devon County Council for the provision of an integrated waste management facility at Viridor Waste Managements Heathfield site.

The permission allows the development of a new materials recycling facility (MRF) to process up to 90,000 tonnes per annum of dry recyclables from the household waste stream.

It will also build a MRF to process up to 75,000 tonnes per annum of non-hazardous commercial and industrial waste and an enclosed in-vessel composting plant.

There will also be a 3 million m3 extension to the existing site.

The permission is still subject to a legal agreement covering certain conditions including improvement of roads around the site.
