The Environment Agency is satisfied with Viridors planning proposal to build an energy from waste facility at its landfill site in Oxfordshire, removing the local planning authoritys objection to the application.
Recently, the EA confirmed to the planning authority that it consider(s) all significant environmental impacts have been properly assessed.
The news comes after the Highways Agency and the countys Highways Department have confirmed there will not be a significant impact on the local road network.
Viridor project manager Robert Ryan said: We are delighted with the EAs response to our planning application as it is an important step in the development of our proposals.
We are confident that our submission is comprehensive and that we have addressed all issues brought to our attention by the local community and the statutory bodies. It is now for the planning authority to determine our application and we look forward to their resolution.
Viridor is proposing to build and operate an EfW facility at its landfill site between Ardley and Middleton Stoney. It hopes to treat Oxfordshires residual waste, producing up to 24 MW of electricity in the process. It would create 38-42 permanent jobs, with more created during construction.
