Environmental award for Tate & Lyle

Food and ingredient manufacturer Tate & Lyle have won an Envirowise award for “Demonstrating Excellence in Environmental Practice by Developing Supply Chain Partnerships”. It was presented by celebrity TV chef Paul Rankin at Envirowise’s FEED conference for the food, drink, hospitality and catering sectors, at the NEC Birmingham.

Tate & Lyle was one of five large food and drink companies that teamed up with Envirowise last September to help its suppliers improve their environmental performance.

Government-funded Envirowise provide free advice to UK businesses to help them improve efficiency and competitiveness while reducing their environmental impact.

Tate & Lyle corporate social responsibility manager Michael Grier said: “We are keen to spread the benefits of Envirowise’s initiative and, following the success of last year, we are already in discussion with Envirowise about expanding our involvement to include some of our customers in the scheme as well as suppliers.”
