ERP gets packaging compliance approval

European Recycling Platform UK (ERP) will offer a packaging compliance scheme from next year.

ERP will offer the scheme in addition to its current WEEE and batteries compliance schemes, following the approval from the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra).

ERP said it wanted to extend its offer of compliance to current and prospective producer members.

ERP UK managing director Scott Butler said: “We’re delighted to be able to offer our current members the full range of compliance and we hope as many producers as possible will take the opportunity to move their compliance needs ‘under one roof’.”

ERP UK was approved as a WEEE producer compliance scheme by the Environment Agency in February 2007, and as a battery compliance scheme in September 2009.

Umberto Raiteri, ERP’s president and chief executive, said the new compliance service would allow ERP to reinforce its presence in the UK market.
