Farmers to be given free demonstration day

With new rules on agricultural waste having recently come into effect, the Environment Agency (EA) is to host a Demonstration Day for farmers in the East Midlands.

Working alongside the Farming and Wildlife Advisory Group (FWAG), information will be disseminated on the legislation, with experts on hand to give advice on what needs to be done differently now that the new regulations are in place.

FWAG project manager Chloe Palmer said: “This is a great opportunity for farmers to find out all they need to know about the new farm waste regulations; how it will affect them and their farm business. Furthermore, they can talk to local experts who will understand their situation and signpost them to workable solutions.”

A panel of experts from FWAG, the National Farmers Union and the waste industry will answer farmers’ questions on their specific problems with waste on their farms.

There will also be demonstrations and examples of equipment that will help farmers dispose of waste such as silage wrap, tyres and other farm plastics.

The event takes place at Bulcote Farm, near Burton Joyce, Nottingham on Friday June 16 between 11.00am and 3.30pm.
