Fire at Cornwall recycling plant

Cornish firefighters have extinguished a fire, described as a “protracted incident”, at a waste disposal site in St Eval near Wadebridge.

Fire engines from St Columb Major, Newquay, Padstow and Wadebridge were called into action when the fire took hold in “three seats” at the site.

Local reports indicate the incident occcured at the St Eval Recycling Company. The company declined to comment when contacted by MRW.

Photos from Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service (CFRS) show crews tackling fire in wood pulp and chippings.

Crews used four hose jets and an aerial ladder platform to get the blaze under control.

A spokesperson said progress had been slow, but the CFRS confirmed the fire was finally out by 3.30am (Friday).
