Fire damages Wincanton WEEE plant

A large fire has broken out at Wincantons waste electrical recycling centre in Daventry. The logistics firm confirmed that the fire broke out in the outside storage area at its plant on Hartlands Industrial Estate in Daventry on 1 October.

A spokesman said: The plant was not operational at the time and there were no injuries to any of the employees on site. Fire crews are still on site and continue to monitor the situation. The cause of the fire is unknown at this stage but a Wincanton investigation team is on site working with the fire services and relevant authorities.

The blaze is believed to have started in a pile of items in the units rear yard.

Northamptonshire Fire and Rescue Service has alerted the Environment Agency and Health Protection Agencies.
