Firefighters tackle blaze at Llanelli plant

Firefighters spent hours battling a blaze at a recycling plant in Llanelli, Wales, on Saturday 21 April.

The fire involved around 200 tonnes of paper, plastic and aluminium foil products at the site of AMG Resources.

Nigel Gibbard, station manager of the Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service, said that crews from Llanelli, Gorseinon and Ammanford battled the fire in Nevills Dock.

“Crews remained on-site for several hours to ensure the fire was fully extinguished and no hot spots remained,” he said.

The blaze was kept under control using main jets and ground monitors, and then hose reel jets, a high volume pumping unit, water bowser and thermal imaging camera.
