First approved skip weighing system launched

Weighing specialists Avery Weigh-Tronix has showcased a new skip weighing system at this year’s RWM in partnership with CIWM show.

The new Sureweigh system is the first skip weighing system approved by the UK Weights & Measures authority and uses a system of digital, wireless load sensors installed in the skip arms to allow skip operators to charge by weight, or weight bands.

The system comes in both trade approved form, which allows customers to transact using the system and an optional non-approved  form, with Bluetooth transfer modules and an in-cab printer as options.

Avery Weigh-Tronix product manager Chris McAllister said: “Using a legal for trade skip weighing system provides organisations with the option of charging by load.

It also means that recyclers using skips can now charge or check the weight of the skip when it is collected and provide a ticket or receipt on the spot. There is no need to visit a weighbridge for verification. This saves time and means that more pick ups, drop offs and swaps are possible per driver.”
