A scheme enabling residents to recycle flat glass is being trialled for four months by the Waste Partnership for Buckinghamshire (WPB). Residents can bring the glass to WPBs Aylesbury Household Waste Recycling Centre (HWRC) free of charge. The WPB hopes to boost recycling rates with the initiative and said it will extend the scheme across the county if its successful. Items such as greenhouse glass, windows, mirrors, sealed units and windscreens will be accepted. Waste Committee chairman and councillor Martin Tett said: We are committed to offering services which will help Buckinghamshire residents increase recycling rates to 45% by 2011. Although we do take most types of glass, we do encourage residents to speak to site staff if they are unsure about what can be recycled. Flat glass is a valuable resource, which can be recycled to make windows, boat and car parts and fibreglass insulation for lofts.
