A professional footballer sparked shouts of ‘what a load of rubbish’ for all the right reasons yesterday – when he turned refuse collector for a day.
John McGrath, captain of League Two outfit Burton Albion, joined Reg Drew and his son Adam on their early morning round in the Midlands town.
Reg won a competition run by npower giving him the chance to meet his favourite Football League player in his chosen setting.
Reg said: “I have been going to see Macca at work for years so it was about time he came to where I worked!”
McGrath said: “It was nice to spend time with Reg and Adam. They are both massive Albion fans and follow us around the country so I’ve enjoyed being able to give something back.
“Hopefully I’ve put in a good shift and they’ll have me back when I hang up my boots!”
