Spanish-owned waste management firm Fosca has signed a seven-year waste contract with Harborough District Council, south Leicestershire.
The £3.7 million contract will see the Rochdale-based firm provide household waste and recycling collection to the council. Fosca is owned by the Spanish construction and services company FCC.
Fosca will take over responsibility from previous contractor Veolia Environmental Services on April 1 this year. The contract could be extended to 14 years by agreement.
The firm will invest in a new fleet of up to 30 vehicles and equipment, including 10 state-of-the-art refuse collection vehicles.
Harborough District Council environmental delivery spokesman Michael Rook said: We will work together to ensure the changeover runs as smoothly as possible, and to keep residents updated on planned improvements.
