Four bidders in running for South Yorkshire PFI waste contract

Four companies are competing for the jointly procured Barnsley, Doncaster and Rotherham residual waste PFI contract, according to MRWs sister publication Infrastructure Journal.

The four bidders are:
* AmeyCespa;
* Earth Tech Skanska;
* Sita Lend Lease; and
* Shanks Scottish and Southern Energy.

A preferred bidder is due to be appointed by the three councils in summer 2010, with the facilities due to be operational by August 2014.

The procuring authority the Barnsley Doncaster Rotherham Waste Partnership was awarded £77 million in PFI credits by Defra in 2008.
