Organisations working within the community waste sector have been invited by the Waste and Resources Action Programme (WRAP) to bid for funding to help encourage recycling participation.
Grants of between £5,000 and £50,000 will be awarded from a total pot of £400,000. The funds are specifically for communication work to help increase public participation in local recycling and composting services, such as community events, leaflets, or door knocking.
Groups that apply for funding do not need to be carrying out the recycling services themselves and funded projects will need to complement rather than duplicate local communications already being carried out. They will also need to follow national Recycle Now guidance.
There is also a £100,000 budget for the provision of generic, ready-made kits for community groups to use at local events.
