Gaskells Waste Services is expanding following the acquisition of the commercial waste collection division of Mersey Waste Holdings.
Mersey Wastes principal activity of managing 750,000 tonnes per annum of domestic waste for disposal and recycling, under contracts with Merseyside Waste Disposal Authority and Halton and
Warrington Councils, will not be affected by the disposal of the industrial and commercial waste collection business.
The acquisition of Mersey Wastes commercial waste collection business is an important step in Gaskells expansion plans.
Mersey Waste managing director Jonathan Gaskell said: This is a vital addition to Gaskells Waste Services.
We have backed our commitment to recycling with a significant investment in one of the most advanced waste pre-treatment centres in Merseyside and we look forward to welcoming Mersey
Wastes commercial customers, who will now have the opportunity to have all their waste pre-treated and recycled at our £2.5 million facility.
This is particularly important in the light of new legislation which comes into force in October aimed at drastically reducing the amount of waste destined for landfill.
